As part of its digital transformation programme, one of the leading financial services provider in Ireland wanted to better equip its employees for a digital-first work environment. The People Services team needed to understand how to help each employee assess their unique digital skills, easily find ways to develop them and then match them to career opportunities in the organisation.
Rattleberry was asked to help design a solution, whilst simultaneously providing the People Services team with a repeatable design process they could use to tackle future challenges.
To design a fitting experience, we needed detailed career insights from a diverse mix of employees. We set up one-to-one video chats and, by giving the wider team the tools and training to have quality conversations themselves, we were able to quickly interview 15+ colleagues.
We leveraged this insight to create a visual journey map which helped stakeholders quickly pinpoint where to focus to provide the best impact for colleagues.
Through a set of online real-time workshops, we shared our insight and developed solutions with People Services and representatives from nine departments across the UK and Ireland. To inspire creativity we provided engaging videos and case studies from other organisations who had solved a similar challenge. By the end of our sessions we had 11 tangible ideas.
Evaluation and Validation
By critiquing and combining the best of these ideas we were able to create a clear proposition. This was tested and refined using employee feedback and presented back to all our contributors as a visual storyboard.
The proposition has now been developed into a fully functioning tool for employees. This design-led approach has also enabled the People Services team to use new ways of working to continuously improve its services.
